The intimate encounters Brie enjoys with her new Master are hot and deliciously challenging. On the flipside, despite her newly acquired skills, she discovers that being a sub also requires maturity, intelligence and willing sacrifice.
Her Master has a tragic past that he has kept hidden. She is unaware that someone is waiting in the wings, plotting to return and rip his world apart. Brie has troubles of her own, including an obsessive Dom who won’t let her go, parents who refuse to accept her new lifestyle, and a film that is struggling to see the light of day.
Brie’s journey with her Master brings both sweet ecstasy and unbearable pain. Friendships deepen and love grows, even as her life begins to crumble around her. To survive, Brie will need the strength of a love that binds her securely—heart and soul.
Perfection! Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission by Red Phoenix took me on one hell of a journey. A journey full of heartbreak, compassion, angst, and an undeniable passion. I’m sad for it to end, but I am incredibly pleased at the outcome.
“The moment I locked that collar in place, our fates were sealed.”
Every time I pick up a Brie book, I am a happy girl! These stories have everything I could ever want in a Must Read book. Not only do you have one amazing Dom in Sir, but we get visits from multiple Doms throughout Brie’s journey. The writing was spot-on, and the BDSM element was gentle, tender, heart-warming, and steamy. Sir takes Domination to a whole other level, just like Brie takes Submission to a level unlike I have read before is BDSM novels. The chemistry between these two was always there, but now that Brie is collared, they share more, communicate more, and are just there for each other more through thick and thin. There is definitely no giving up. Red created characters that are strong-minded and strong-willed that even when there is loss, the fight within them just gets stronger.
One of my favorite parts in this story was the scenes. During the “fire scene,” I was completely captivated. I felt like I was there watching Sir apply the alcohol on Brie’s willing body, touching it with the flame and then snuffing out the flames with his masterful hands. It was like a dance in my head, and one of the most beautiful things I have read in a while. The “switch roles scene,” was pretty fantastic too. You get to see a part of Brie that you haven’t seen yet, and it was amazing. Oh, and to give you a little teaser, there is another pretty fuckin’ hot DP scene that includes one of my favorite Doms from the past. *Wink Wink*
Another part of this story that I enjoyed was catching up with the other characters like Tono, Lea, Mary, and Rystar. Secrets are revealed and new relationships blossom. Stupid decisions are made, and threats try to sneak their way in to relationships to tear them apart. Different sides of your favorite characters are revealed, and some with make you cry, and others will make you laugh. Overall, this was a total winner…the complete package, and something I will treasure and re-read again and again.

Excerpt from Brie Embraces the Heart of Submission (Interview with Marquis Gray):
Lea quickly peeled off her clothes and knelt down gracefully. While she was undressing, Marquis took off his shirt and went to the table Brie had set up to pick out a flogger. He grabbed a large black one. “First, we warm the skin.”
Lea nodded to signify her understanding.
Marquis swung the flogger slowly in a sideways figure eight pattern, lightly slapping her back with the soothing flogger. Brie knew the feel of it. It looked scary because of its size and many tendrils, but it was made of supple leather that was actually soft to the touch.
The sounds of light thudding and Lea’s satisfied sighs filled the small room. Brie’s own skin tingled in wistful anticipation. The thuds became louder as he increased the force of impact.
“Green, Marquis. It feels like a warm massage.”
The Dom put down the large flogger after several minutes, then picked up one that had fewer tendrils that were also thinner in width. “Now that the skin is warm, I’ll increase the sensation.”
Brie noticed that Lea’s skin was lightly blushed. She did a quick close-up so it would be apparent to the viewer.
When she pulled back, she caught Marquis in graceful motion. He used fluid, solid strokes with the thinner, more challenging flogger. He concentrated on the left side of Lea’s back and then moved over to the right, always precise, aiming for the fleshier areas of her skin.
“So beautiful,” he murmured under his breath.
Brie saw Lea’s muscles stiffen and then eventually relax as her body become accustomed to the more demanding strokes. Her friend’s satisfied moans caused Brie to roll her eyes as a trickle of wetness escaped her soaked panties. I really should have brought a towel…
“Something for the Pain” by Redlight King
This song was a go-to for me throughout the Brie series. It speaks to the allure of skillfully delivered pain to take away the anguish when life gets too difficult to bear. I tended to think of Marquis Gray when I listened to the lyrics—he started his special brand of “therapy” at the tender young age of thirteen.
