“Once upon a time, there was a girl who dressed up and went to a big party at the palace. There, she met a prince. They danced and fell in love…”

Damn good line. Too bad I don’t believe a word of it anymore.

My name is Claire Montgomery, and I’m not a princess. I’m a fighter. I worked hard to earn my place on the emergency image repair team for one of the biggest public relations companies in the country. We’ve been called to the renowned Chicago headquarters of Stone Global Corporation, where it’s our job to clean up a heap of the Stone family’s filthiest laundry. Our success will be the biggest victory of my career. I’m on my game. I’m ready.

Why doesn’t “ready” include a contingency plan for Killian Stone?

My name is Killian Stone. They call me the “enigma of Miracle Mile,” and that’s the way I like it. Elite tycoons want into my bank account. Their wives and daughters want into my pants. They’ll all do anything for a piece of the enigma—until a crack in the castle is too huge for anyone to ignore. What they all don’t know is that I’m thrilled about the fissure. Their fascination with the scandal means nobody will look at the bigger secret of the Stone family. I’m safe.

Until Claire Montgomery walks through my doors.

Her honesty, her bravery, her humor…they pull me in, a prism against the gray walls of my tower. I’m captivated. For the very first time, I long to shed the enigma. To share my secret. But what the hell will that get me? Even if she fits the slipper I offer…I’m no Prince Charming.

No Prince Charming by Angel Payne and Victoria Blue is Book 1 in the Secrets of Stone Series. I have a feeling that this series is going to be one to watch out for. I have a gut feeling it will just keep getting better and better. No Prince Charming was a fun, sexy, and captivating read. The writing is very solid, which is to be expected. The sex scenes were ridiculously hot, so hot in fact that I read them over and over…..and over again. I believe this is the first time that Ms. Payne and Ms. Blue have teamed up to give us this great and engaging love story. This dynamic duo has set the bar pretty high, and I can’t wait to see where this story goes in Book 2.

Claire Montgomery and Killian Stone were characters that fascinated me right off the bat. With Claire, first of all, I am incredibly jealous of her job! I’ve always wanted to work for a big PR company. Hell, I would even work for the same witch and spawn that Claire had to work for. She held her own in the company. She may have just been the “data and demographic” woman, but deep down she had the confidence and the knowledge to run that damn company. I love when I get to relate to a character. It makes the story that much more entertaining. Claire Montgomery is used to putting out fires for the rich and famous, but NOTHING prepared her for the hit she would take to her heart and her mind, from a man like Killian Stone.

Killian Stone, Killian Stone, I just LOVE saying that man’s name. It’s so elegant, so magnetic, so fucking sexy. I am officially enamored by Mr. Stone. He is a very successful and powerful businessman. He gives off this powerful aura, and when he walks in to a room, you stop what you are doing and listen and stare. When his older brother screws up and threatens to ruin the family’s reputation, it is time to call in the big guns. The PR company that will hopefully turn this around. Killian Stone didn’t have a clue that his world was about to be flipped upside down by a woman he caught on her hands and knees in the middle of his own conference table.

❝Tell me you want me to stop. Tell me and mean it, Claire, and I will. But I don’t think you can. I don’t think you want to.❞

These two both have secrets that they aren’t willing to share; secrets that could ruin their very existence, so they tread lightly. But the connection, the electricity that they feel when they are near each other is just too strong to shy away from. As their feelings grow stronger for one another, trouble creeps slowly in the background. Will their secrets and their pasts destroy their relationship even before it starts? Will they learn to trust each other, lean on each other, and break down those walls that they both have built up throughout the years? What will it take for them to start running towards each other, instead of sprinting in the opposite direction? A metaphorical glass slipper is all it will take. Killian will need the determination to hold on to his princess and Claire just needs to have the strength to try the slipper on.

❝There was no denying our attraction anymore. On a visceral level, it was potent, but once the quakes of my mind and soul were factored in, the force was like nothing I’d ever experienced in my life❞

No Prince Charming will have you trapped in a whirlwind of inescapable desire. It’s romantic, it’s beautiful, and Mr. Stone is just incredible swoon worthy. I devoured this book in one night, and it was so much fun. Here is to another successful pairing of two  authors that know just how to get the job done. I can’t wait to see what these two ladies come up with in the future.

About Angel Payne

Hi there. I’m Angel: book lover, writing addict, hopeless romantic, pop culture geek and avid shoe lover.

A bit about me…

I’ve been hooked on books since I was a kid but it got worse in my twenties, when I discovered romances–the hotter, the better. Growing up in Southern California, with lots of surfer manliness surrounded me, was certainly a good boost for reading about delicious alpha guys and the women who adore them. When I learned I had a knack for telling these stories too, I guess you could say I was doomed–though my path toward romance novelist took a few detours via a concert-reviewing gig for my college newspaper (free show tickets…backstage passes…that was a no-brainer), artist interviews for a Beverly Hills dance music mag, personal assistant work for a record producer, dance club disc jockey, and a lot of fun in the hospitality industry.

These days, I still live in California, and have found an amazing alpha guy of my own who was brave enough to marry me. We live on a street that looks like Brigadoon, with our beautiful daughter. I have the best life ever, and never forget to thank the Big Guy Upstairs for it, either.

About Victoria Blue

Victoria Blue lives in her own portion of the galaxy known as Southern California. There she finds the love and life sustaining power of one amazing sun, two unique and awe inspiring planets and three indifferent, yet comforting moons. Life is fantastic and challenging and everyday brings new adventures to be discovered. She looks forward to seeing what’s next!
