One master, one woman who craves surrender, and a sky that will challenge them both.
At a time when airplanes are as new-fangled and sensational as the telephone, Faith dares to fly.
The one territory she has not explored is her own sexuality. In Leonhardt she discovers the man who can teach her how a woman surrenders her body and her mind. However, Leonhardt has a shadowed past and his own learning to do. He doesn't have the right to keep Faith from flying, even if he thinks airplanes are flimsy death-traps made of canvas, timber and their inventor's prayers.
Faith has her limits, Leonhardt has his flaws, and sometimes the nicest people get murdered by unscrupulous bastards. Even if Leonhardt can save the woman he loves, the battle for Faith's heart will be the hardest one of all.
Historical BDSM Romance? Sounds pretty damn intriguing, does it not? It has been quite a while since I’ve read a historical romance, and when you throw in some kink, well, I’m pretty much a VERY happy girl! The time, effort, and research that goes into a novel like this has to be huge. It was so great to just immerse myself in such a great read. Rough Surrender was a means of escape from my everyday life. Diving into this world melted my present realities away, and I loved the fact that Rough Surrender took me to a place I have never been before…whips, floggers, and spankings, 1910 style!
❝If it weren’t for that adorable tongue of yours, I’d have let you go. Now, I’m going to see what you taste like.❞
Rough Surrender is a story about a man, whose past prevents him from giving in to his most visceral urges, and the self-assured, independent woman who craves his dominant touch. Leonhardt and Faith were incredible characters to get to know. Their chemistry was on point all the way through the book. The fact that the events in his past, hid away the man he truly is just broke my heart. He thought he was a monster, and he struggled with that side of himself throughout the story. Faith was the perfect heroine for Leonhardt. She was fiercely independent, fearless, and bratty. All things that could drive a Dom to drink. When these two were together, their true selves took over and there was nothing to hide. It was so heady, sensual, and oh so very erotic.
❝Teaching her the needs of her body must surely be the best present he’d ever been given.❞
Not only was the sex and BDSM scenes beautiful and fascinating, but the storyline was brought to another level when some intense suspense was thrown into the mix. There was emotion all throughout, but nothing stuck with me more than the events that happened in the second half of the book. There were parts that were difficult for me to read, parts that might act as some triggers for people, but just know that if you have that one special person, the other half of your soul, you can get through ANYTHING together, and these characters taught each other that very thing. Even with betrayal between Leonhardt and Faith, and events that would totally break a human being, they found their way back to each other. There was a point in the book where Faith lost herself. The fearless woman who risked her life, flying high in the air in some metal contraption, was doubting herself, she feared she was broken. Leonhardt wanted, NO, he NEEDED her to trust him again, he wanted Faith to look past her fear, and bring her back to herself again. She needed to feel IN CONTROL, and he was the one to give that back to her. When it hit that turning point for both of them, it was time for me to grab the tissues. It was a beautiful moment.
❝If you’re ever lost or alone, I will find you and show you the way back.❞
Rough Surrender was a very well-written love story with heat and intensity that blew me away. With the scenes being so descriptive, it was easy to be transported to this wonderful world. I’m curious to find out if this is going to turn into a series. There were certain characters that I would love to know more about, and of course, to get more from the sexy Leonhardt wouldn’t be a chore either.
