A Chicago reporter in her mid-twenties unexpectedly finds love in Napa Valley when she’s assigned to spend a week with a famously reclusive genius.

Kate Corbin has lost her spark. From the outside, her life seems charmed. She has a handsome, long-term boyfriend and a budding journalism career at a popular Chicago newspaper. But in reality, her relationship is going nowhere, and she’s quickly losing motivation for what she once believed was her dream job. When her boyfriend dumps her unceremoniously, Kate loses all hope of finding love.

With no living family and few friends, Kate confides in her boss. Trusting that the hungry, ace reporter is buried somewhere deep inside, he gives Kate the opportunity to jumpstart her career. The assignment: to interview the famously reclusive R.J. Lawson, a wealthy tech genius who disappeared years ago but recently reemerged as a Napa Valley vintner. The week takes an unexpected turn, however, when Lawson refuses to divulge any information. Desperate for a lead, Kate turns to Jamie, a vineyard hand who shows her the romance of wine country—and stirs her aching heart. But his connection to Lawson is ambiguous, and when Jamie disappears before the end of the week, Kate is left to investigate another story: the truth behind the man who stole her heart.

USA TODAY bestselling author Renée Carlino explored love and heartbreak in her beautifully written debut Sweet Thing, and her newest novel does not disappoint. For fans of Colleen Hoover, K.A. Tucker, and Katja Millay, Nowhere But Here is a stirring and satisfying romance that you won’t want to put down.

review

Have you ever read a book that made your chest ache, your heart swell, or made your emotions run on overdrive? Well, Nowhere but Here by Renée Carlino was that book for me. This was a touching romance to end all romances! It’s been a while since I laughed so hard, and cried so much from a single read. This beautiful story, and these amazing characters are now embedded into my heart and I will never forget them. Thank you Ms. Carlino for telling this incredible story of Kate and Jamie.

❝I’m all I’ve got.❞

Have you ever lost faith in love? Have you ever felt like you have lost everyone close to you, and now you are all you’ve got? Have you ever been in a crowded room, but felt the undertow of loneliness? Kate Corbin has recently lost the only family she had left. With only her workaholic boyfriend to lean on, she now feels more alone than ever. Kate is a journalist who has lost her drive. She can’t even get the motivation to write about the latest and greatest in lipstick, let alone anything remotely exciting. When an intriguing assignment lands on her lap, her journey to self-discovery leads her to Napa Valley, and hopefully, an interview of a lifetime.

❝You’ve lost your spark, Kate. Don’t come home until you find it.❞

And just like her life, the first few hours into her assignment crashes and burns. She is forced to get behind a wheel when she hasn’t driven in years. She then ran into a pickup truck of a worker at the vineyard. She ended up being late to the first part of the interview with the elusive R.J. Lawson. To top it all off, the interview was a disaster. Things start to look up though, when she finds herself immersed in the beautiful Vineyard and the incredible people who run it. Kate finds herself becoming more and more attracted to the vineyard’s “jack of all trades.” He is a gorgeous mystery, and an amazing man who takes care of the vineyard like it was his own. Jamie is attracted to Kate right away and that unsettles her. She is not used to getting this much attention. She is not used to feeling this jolt, this energy, this spark that is between them. Every touch, every whisper, and every compliment, melts Kate’s heart like never before. Who is this man who is slowly breaking down her walls?

❝There used to be this hole, this void that I thought could never be filled, but it’s healing and filling up…ever since I met you.❞

Ms. Carlino took my heart and ran with it with this one. I was able to connect with Kate right away. Her quirkiness, her ability to say what’s on her mind at any moment, it was so damn refreshing. Jamie was also a breath of fresh air. No bad boy here, just a hardworking, noble, gorgeous man who cared deeply for this land and for Kate. The author was so incredibly descriptive in her details, I could easily picture the vineyard in my head. Nowhere but Here playing out like a movie and I never wanted it to end. Heartwarming to the very end, Nowhere but Here took me on an emotional journey of a young woman stuck in the darkness, and the man whose light was slowly making its way into her soul. Sometimes you just need a single read that wraps up everything wonderfully. A read that has everything a romance reader could ever want in a story. The epilogue sealed the deal for me, making Nowhere but Here one of the best true romances of the year for me.
