Jessica Sweet thought going away to college would finally make her free of her parents’ constant judgments and insistence she play chastity club role model for their church events, but if anything, the freedom has made her realize she can’t go home and be a hypocrite anymore. Tired of dodging their questions, she stays at school over the summer and lands in an unexpected crash pad: Riley Mann’s house.

Sarcastic, cocky, and full of opinions, Riley is also sexy personified with tattoos and biceps earned from working as a roofer all day. Not the right guy for her even if Jessica was looking for a relationship, which she is definitely not. But Jessica knows that Riley hides the burden of having to raise his younger brothers behind that grin and as she helps him get his house in order for a custody hearing, they begin to fall hard for each other, and she is forced to question what she’s hiding herself.

Jessica has never had a problem getting naked with a guy, but when it comes to showing Riley how she truly feels inside, her fear of rejection may just ruin the best thing—the best guy—to ever happen to her…

I absolutely LOVED SWEET by Erin McCarthy! There…that’s my review…that is all you need to know! Haha! I’m just kidding, but seriously, this was an all around, fantastic romance. Now, I know a lot of my followers are fellow kinksters, and I want you to know that there is no kink in SWEET. You should already know that because of the title of the damn book! BUT….it has a storyline that will keep you engaged the whole way through. SWEET has hilarious, witty characters that have that push/pull relationship going on. Ms. McCarthy sucked me in right away with the humor, the banter, and the amazingly complicated relationship between Jessica and Riley.

Here are some quotes that made me LOL…

❝I appreciate you looking for a landing spot for my dick.❞

❝Every night I’ve been beating my dick like it owes me money.❞

Here is a quote that made me go awwww…

❝I may not have a college degree or a six-figure income, but I will love and respect and cherish you with everything inside me, and when I fuck up, I will apologize.❞

SWEET follows two people who are trying to overcome their pasts one day at a time. It is about two people falling in love and not knowing what to do about it. There is Jessica who was raised in a VERY religious family. Lying to her parents in order to avoid staying in the prison of her childhood home, Jessica seeks shelter with her friends. Unfortunately, none of her close friends, or friends with ‘benefits’ can accommodate her. Surprisingly enough, Riley Mann has a spare room while his younger brothers are gone. Now, Riley Mann is a gorgeous, tattooed, sarcastic son-of-a-bitch, and the VERY LAST PERSON that Jessica should be under the same roof with, but having no other choice, she moves in and thus begins a summer they will both never forget.

Jessica and Riley aren’t complete strangers. They know each other through other friends and family and they aren’t the best of friends either. Their interactions throughout the book was fantastic, and the chemistry was on point! They like to tease each other every chance they get, and sarcastic, witty banter just fly off the pages, and you end up grinning from ear to ear and laughing out loud quite a bit. When you learn about the struggles these two are facing separate and together, it breaks your heart. You have Jessica trying to get away from her family, and you have Riley just trying to keep his family together. These two are lost when they are apart, but together their lives, and the lives around them flourish. They help each other, there is give and take, and there is always humor to break up the mood when it gets deep. SWEET pulled plenty of emotion from me, and I couldn’t imagine it any other way. This is a true love story, full of trials and tribulations that we all deal with every single day. It’s a great story to relate to and to understand what these characters are going through make it that much more real. SWEET is part of the True Believers Series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. With Erin McCarthy’s fantastic writing and realistic story lines, I will be going back for more from this series. SWEET is one of those stories that just make you feel good in the end.
