F*ck and chuck. Pump and dump. Hit it and quit it. One night stand. Didn’t matter how I branded it—that’s all she had wanted it to be. That much was clear when she left me with my pants down and my dick still out.

What she hadn’t counted on was fate intervening and our worlds colliding—again.

The day I showed back up in the life of Chloe Griffins, I knew I had to have her again. My body was hungry for another taste. Like an addict, I’d been craving another hit for months, and there she was—flesh and bone, tits and ass.

The fact that she worked for the competition should’ve been reason enough for me to leave her alone. I had a job to do that summer and f*cking Chloe wasn’t part of it. But I was like a man possessed.

I’d do whatever it took to have her again.

review

Chloe is a single gal with big career aspirations. Employed as a real estate agent, she has been working like a mad woman to save enough money to buy into in a brokerage firm. She swore off men a number of years ago (after having found her long-time boyfriend banging his secretary) and instead has focused on her career and raising her sister (who she has cared for since their mom died), who is now ready to start college. Her plans go awry when she meets Max at her BFF’s bachelorette party and abandons him after a passionate encounter in a VIP room.

Max is the son of a billionaire real estate developer and Chloe’s competition. He hasn’t been able to forget the girl who left him practically with his pants down. The problem? His father has been breathing down his neck to get his latest project off the ground, leaving him no time for distractions.

Unable to deny their mutual attraction, the two agree on a just a fling so they can concentrate on business.

Part 1 was a nice start for this series. The story had a pleasant mix of humor and steamy scenes, which was great for keeping my interest.

I do wish there was a more actual interaction between Chloe and her sister. The two are supposed to be close, but I can’t recall any dialogue between them at all, which makes their close relationship less believable.

In usual serial novella style, this one has a cliffhanger, but it felt more like a hill than a cliff. The end, although unusual, didn’t quite seem to fit and I was a little let down. (Upon reflection, the end seems more suitable to a chapter than a novella serial.)

Nevertheless, I do want to know more about Chloe (maybe finally meet her sister Jess and figure out why she is so against a relationship?) and Max (the reason for his strained relationship with his father?) as well as to see how their fling morphs into a relationship. I look forward to the next part!
