Love is never easy. It's especially difficult when you love a Marine. I knew the risk when I said "I do", but I chose to love anyway.
In a flash, he was taken from me, and now I'm alone. Struggling and desperate. There's no hope, no future. Just the endless cycle of day-to-day survival. But a letter returned could change all of that.
Hope and love often come from the last place you'd think to look, when you least expect it.
* * *
I was a lost, broken soul, tortured by the memories of what I'd endured. When I visited that old farmhouse in rural Texas, all I wanted to do was return the letter. Keep a promise to a friend.
What I got was healing. Understanding. The chance to find a measure of peace when all I've ever known is war.
We both lost everything. But in each other, we found something worth fighting for.
CAPTURED by Jasinda and Jack Wilder was a beautiful, emotional, very well written story. I was afraid to start this one, because I knew I would need tons of tissues on hand. My heart ran away with this book, and I don’t expect it back anytime soon. I read CAPTURED about a week ago, and I am still thinking about it; thinking about the realness of it all; thinking about how what happens in this story, happens way too often, and it makes my heart hurt when I think about the military families that have to deal with loss. I just know that the WIlder’s have given them a voice with CAPTURED, and it is a voice that everyone should hear.
I was on high alert the whole way through. I was filled with anxiety, nervousness, and compassion. The war scenes were incredibly intense, and my heart beat faster and faster with every word and every event. It was very detailed and played out like a movie in my mind. The back home scenes were just as intense and just as emotional. The love scenes, well let’s just say, Jasinda Wilder IS a co-author in CAPTURED, I think that’s all you need to know.
CAPTURED is definitely a romance book, but I think it is really a book for everyone, guys included. It’s a strong, fast-paced read with an incredible emotional pull. It’s captivating, beautiful, and raw. It shattered my heart and put it back together again. Nothing beats a read so engrossing, so enthralling, that you just don’t know what to do with yourself after you’re finished. Bravo you two! Thank you for bringing this book to life.
