Antonio is a killer.
He's beautiful, educated, a prodigy of a thief and as violent a motherfucker as ever came of the boat from Napoli.
Theresa knows it, but that doesn't stop her from getting emotionally and physically entangled with him, and this is how, maybe, she got it in her head that she can protect him.
But it's not her job to save him, and she's just not getting that. Every time she tries to protect him, she practically gets him killed, and the tighter he grips her, the more dangerous she becomes.
It's almost as if...well, he'd never admit this....but it's almost as if protecting her the way he does is the one thing he should stop. As if the only way he's ever going to find a moment's peace is to just embrace her as a partner, rather than a defenseless creature.
But he'd never do that. Not this violent motherfucker.
WARNING: This book contains delicious sex scenes with a hot man dirty-talking in Italian; women handling firearms and explosives; and scenes of violence with a crystal Virgin Mary cigarette lighter.
CD Reiss does not fuck around with this book, or this series, or anything she writes. The woman is a fucking genius with her words. They suck you in until there is nothing left of you but a puddle. A puddle of emotions, a puddle of emotional drainage, a puddle of absolute splendor. God forbid I take my eyes away from the page. I feel like I would miss something, like I would lose something of myself if I looked away. We are thrust back into the intensely sexy, suspenseful, and emotional journey of Theresa and Antonio. They are SO BAD for each other, and yet so fucking good. They yell, scream, and abuse one another, spit vial and nasty words each and every way possible, but the love they have is the kind of love that people kill for. The kind of love that ignites you, destroys you, and leaves you breathless. Their love is the Romeo & Juliet kind of love, if one goes down, the other is sure to follow, everyone else be damned.
How far are they willing to go for one another? Are they willing to lie, kill, and cheat for each other? You betcha! What would you give up for the other half of your heart? Would you leave them to protect them? Would you stay with them and die with them? What would you do in the name of love?
In RUIN, we dive into the past, find out what makes Theresa and Antonio the way they are, what shaped them into the human beings they are today. It was gut-wrenching, action packed, intensely erotic, and so suspenseful, I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through. I laughed, cried, and screamed with these characters. I felt their loss, their love, and their pain. It wrecked me so good in ways that are hard to explain, but so worth the emotional pitfall it placed me in. The intensity of it all gripped me by my lady parts and never let go, and that’s just how I like it!
I continue to bask in the brilliance that is CD Reiss, and hope to god she never stops bringing us gripping, sensual stories that tear our hearts out.
