Linden McGregor is tall, rugged, and gunslinger handsome; a helicopter pilot with a Scottish brogue and charm to spare. He’s also one of Stephanie Robson’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as she’s known him.

Beautiful, funny and an ambitious businesswoman (with one hell of an ass), Stephanie Robson is one of Linden McGregor’s best friends and has fit into that box for as long as he’s known her.

But some relationships can’t be boxed, can’t be classified, can’t be tamed.

Back in their mid-twenties and tired of the competitive hit-or-miss dating scene of San Francisco, Steph and Linden made a pact to marry each other if neither one of them are in a serious relationship by the time they hit thirty.

It sounds like fun and games but as the years to thirty tick past and lovers come and go out of their lives, the pact becomes larger than life.
Sex is inevitable. Friendships are tested. Hearts are on the line.

The pact is about to change everything.

my thoughts

The Pact by Karina Halle was an amazing, unforgettable, delicious read. This beautiful friends to lovers romance will take your breath away. I devoured every single page like it was my last read. Ms. Halle constantly amazes me with her writing style and her relatable characters. Linden and Stephanie’s story will make you laugh, make you cry, and make you jump for joy. I instantly connected with these characters on every level, their past, their struggles, their highs, their lows. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to read a story about being single in your thirties. I’m 31 and have yet to find my prince charming. Reading The Pact has given me hope. It has reminded me that it is NOT too late to find the love of your life, AND that the love of your life might be closer than you think.

This friends to lovers story was sexy, fun, emotional, with just a smidgen of angst thrown in. If you are familiar with Karina Halle’s writing, then you are in for a treat with this one. Fabulous, heart-felt, raw emotions are laid out for you right on the pages. You will fall in love with these characters, their story, and the fact that they have all grown so much throughout the book.

hand to pinky swear vintage style

The restraint, the struggle that both Linden and Stephanie experience punched me in the gut. You want to just push these two together and say just KISS already, but you know they have to get their on their own time. I loved the fact that even though Linden was a playboy, you get the sense that he would give it all up for his ‘baby blue’. You can tell he is a little rough around the edges, but with Stephanie, he becomes soft, more tender in his actions. My heart ached for Stephanie and Linden with each passing year, with the comings and goings of new boyfriends and girlfriends. No matter what events occur, there was always that pinky swear, and the pact in the forefront of their minds, wondering….waiting. Until they finally realized that everyone else they were with, acted as place holders in their hearts.

The simmering tension, the undeniable chemistry, the back and forth bantering was always there with these two. No one could deny it. The whole first half of the book was practically foreplay for them. It had my heart racing, my chest hurting, my mind wandering the entire way through. It was only when they had their first kiss, that I was able to take another breath, and then not again until the last page was turned. Simply brilliant! Deliciously sexy! Karina Halle has yet ANOTHER hit on her hands with THE PACT!
