When Jacob “Dax” Daxton returns home from war, he has to fight a new battle – the one to find his place in the world. The man who normally has a clear path to victory surrounded by brothers in combat is suddenly lost and alone. After meeting Beckett Ridge, a bearded tattoo artist, Dax’s journey begins winding down an unexpected path.
Still reeling from events that shook his foundation, Beck has never been part of anything meaningful. Now faced with responsibilities foreign and daunting, Dax’s broken spirit mends Beck in ways he never even knew he was destroyed.
As both struggle to find balance, they are healed by the comfort they find in one other. On the other side of chaos, they hope to find themselves On Solid Ground.
WOW! What a way to be introduced to the amazing work of Melissa Collins. I’ve heard she writes amazing Gay Contemporary Romances, but DAMN, this was HOT, INTENSE, and EMOTIONALLY FULFILLING! A military man who comes home, broken and lost, and a rugged tattoo artist dealing with family issues. Now THAT has the potential for an intriguing story, don’t you think?
On Solid Ground was so much more than just your average M/M romance. This story has so much heart and soul, so much depth and emotion. I laughed. I bawled my eyes out. I even shouted out to the heavens a couple of times. A story that pulls everything out of you, but ends up leaving you whole is a fantastic thing to experience.
This is a story about finding yourself. It’s a story about family, forgiveness, and redemption. It is about finding that someone, your second half of your soul, your other half of your heart, and holding onto them no matter what. The pains of the past, the struggles of the present, and the unknown of the future is not to be dealt with alone. Put aside your pride and the unknown, and go after what you want. On Solid Ground is more than a story, it has a great message behind every sentence, every paragraph, and every chapter.
Dax and Beck are two characters that will embed themselves if your heart. Their connection is undeniable and so special it will just make you melt. I will always remember their story, and how emotionally beautiful it was. I fell in love with Melissa Collin’s writing, and I can tell you that she has opened up a door for me, a door that will not be closing any time soon. Ms. Collins is on my radar now, and there is no going back!
