Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that she and her mother weren’t his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets,. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is, Alexa must help him.
Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.
Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they’re on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again…
A gorgeous, stubborn as hell hero who will melt your panties and warm your heart. A sassy, hilarious heroine who has no problem saying what is on her mind. An attraction that slowly builds and eventually erupts into something incredibly intense and commanding. HERO by Samantha Young is sure to be a TOP PICK for many romance readers out there.
I’ve only recently discovered Ms. Young’s work, and what I’ve read, I’ve absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed. Her writing style is smart and spot on. Her characters have quite a bit of depth to them. The storylines are always engaging and always with a unique twist to them. These reasons are what set her apart from the rest, therefore making her one of my favorite authors to watch.
HERO was one of my HIGHLY ANTICIPATED READS of 2015, and sometimes when the hype is too big, the story sometimes disappoints, and sometimes when an author has a fantastic following with another outstanding series, like the incredible ON DUBLIN STREET series, it is hard to branch out in another direction and be successful. Well, in my opinion, this author has NOTHING to worry about. Her followers will absolutely fall in love with Alexa and Caine and their struggle to get to their HEA. This book, being a standalone, will also bring her in a boat load of new fans.
Conflicting emotions, characters you love to hate, the realness of the characters and the storyline, the enjoyable secondary characters, all of these factors are what made HERO a definite TOP PICK of 2015 for me. The drama, the sex, the lies, the deception, it was like watching a movie on the big screen. With Samantha’s writing being so descriptive and so damn enchanting, you can’t help but be glued to the pages until you feel the sadness of those two little words, THE END. Not only is HERO a MUST READ for those contemporary romance lovers out there, but it will for sure be a book that I will want to read again in the future. Some people will be going to see Fifty Shades of Grey in the theatre this February, but I will be re-reading HERO and wishing this one was on the big screen instead.
