You don’t know when…
You don’t get to choose if…
When it’s time to join…you’ll know.
You might think you want to be a member—but trust me this is one club you don’t want to join. It’s not a place where people go to live out their deepest, darkest sexual desires—there are no handcuffs or blindfolds.
The 27 Club only admits those who die young and tragically. My brother was recently bestowed membership and joined many of our ancestors before him. I know I’m next. This is my destiny, and I was ready to yield.
But then I met Nate. He awakened a sensuality in me that had never been explored, never satisfied. I knew then I could no longer accept my destiny. Nate’s presence controls me. I’m overwhelmed by his touch, his words; my every thought is consumed by desire. I believe he was brought into my life for a reason.
Nate doesn’t believe in destiny.
But I do.
And if there’s a way to cheat it—I must.
Do you believe in DESTINY? The 27 Club was an absolute intoxicating read. It captivated my thoughts, it pushed and tugged at my emotions, and it warmed my soul. This is a romance that will make you think, make you wonder, and make you surrender to the possibility of destiny, fate, and everything in between. The 27 Club was such a page turner, giving me chapter after chapter of mystery, intrigue, and pure eroticism. This is my very first taste of Kim Karr’s writing, and I gotta say, I’m a little bit in love with her style and her grace.
I gotta say, I had no idea what to expect with this book! The synopsis intrigued me, but I still didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I can tell you that in the first chapter I fell in love with a character named Zachary Flowers. With only a glimpse, I learned so much about this man. Tragedy strikes and the next thing you know we are switching to his sister Zoey’s POV. You feel the complete loss and sorrow she feels. Your chest and heart aches right along with her. You want nothing but to reach inside the pages and give her a hug and tell her it’s all going to be okay. Zoey not only has to come to terms with her brother’s death, but she has to deal with her impending death. It is almost time for her to join The 27 Club.
This is her destiny, her fate, and she needs to decide if she can embrace it.
When Zoey visits her brother’s home to collect his belongings, she finds some disturbing evidence that her brother was not leading the life she thought he was. Hoping to get answers from his best friend Nate Hanson, she gets a lot more than what she bargained for. There is a connection there, a smoldering undercurrent of lust and want. They both feel it, but his best friend’s wishes stops Nate from pursuing anything with her. Nate can’t seem to find his control when he is around Zoey. She may be vulnerable, but she knows what she wants, and she wants Nate, brother’s wishes be damned.
Nate brings out something in Zoey. He is not a believer in destiny, but he cares for her. He wants her to LIVE life to the fullest. He can make that happen. She just needs to decide if she can surrender herself to him and just let go of all her worries. He doesn’t like to talk about the past, and she doesn’t discuss the future. But together, they can heal each other, change their perceptions, and learn to live in the moment. They will discover hope.
The 27 Club was incredibly entertaining and so incredibly hard to put down. Along with the sensual nature of the book, there is mystery, intrigue, and suspense. This was a GREAT book to introduce me to this author, and I look forward to reading more from her.
