Naomi: When I was kidnapped I thought only of survival. I don’t thrive well in chaos. That’s why I gave my captors exactly what they wanted: my skill with computers. Making millions for a crime lord who kept me imprisoned in his basement compound kept my family safe. When he was taken out, I thought my ticket to freedom had arrived. Wrong. I traded one keeper for another. This time I’m in the hands of a scarred, dark, demanding Russian who happens to be the head of the Bratva, a Russian crime organization. He wants my brain and my body. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued, but I can’t be a prisoner forever...no matter how good he makes me feel.
Vasily: At a young age, I was taught that a man without power is a puppet for all. I’ve clawed—and killed—my way to the top so that it is my heel on their necks. But to unify the fractured organization into an undefeatable machine, I need a technological genius to help me steal one particular artifact. That she is breathtaking, determined, and vulnerable is making her more dangerous than all of my enemies combined. But only I can keep her safe from the world that she now inhabits. Soon, I must choose between Naomi and Bratva law. But with every day that passes, this becomes a more impossible choice.
What a fantastic read! This was a suspenseful, raw, and gut-wrenching love story about a Russian sociopathic crime lord falling for an American woman with Asperger’s syndrome. This was a unique love story with amazing complex characters who you couldn’t help but fall completely in love with. These two authors have created something special with the HITMAN Series. With each new release, my excitement builds more and more, because I know that each one will be just as good, if not better, than the last.
Vasily has met his ultimate match in Naomi. Two people from two vastly different worlds connect in the most unexpected way. Vasily and Naomi could not be more different, and yet, deep down, they are both fighting the loneliness that festers within. They both detest touch, but end up craving contact with one another in every way possible. Vasily is a hard, hard man without limits. He will destroy everything and everyone to protect what is his. The unification of the Bratva is what he seeks. He will use the greatest mind to help him achieve his goal. When that brilliant mind, comes in the form of a beautiful autistic girl, with a sharp tongue and gorgeous eyes, Vasily has his work cut out for him. For such a rough man who lusts for no one, he finds himself yearning to taste this woman’s lips,to dive into her brilliant mind, get lost in her beautiful blue eyes and find comfort in her stare.
“I…I thought you said no tongue,”
“That was not tongue,” “That was promise.”
These two made me melt. Naomi has got to be one of my all time favorite heroines. I love how her mind works, and how she stands up to the brute that is Vasily. I love the fact that she knows no better and she just states how it is. Most of all, I loved that Vasily took to her so well. He didn’t care that she blurted out things at the most inappropriate moments, or that she didn’t meet anyone’s eyes, or her aversion to germs were way past the norm. These are all things that made her stand out in his eyes and his heart. Vasily turned to mush around Naomi and it was the sweetest thing ever. Naomi is no wilting flower. She may become overwhelmed in certain situations, but she got through it in her own way because she is a strong woman. She is a strong woman who gives this bad ass Russian mobster the pain he needs to just FEEL again. He may be a monster, a volk. But he is HER monster, HER volk.
“I want her to whip me. To command me to my knees and then draw blood as she strikes me again and again. I grow hard at the thought of the pain and then the pleasure she’d bring me.”
Oh, writing these quotes from the book is helping me to remember just how beautiful this unique love story was. I’ve never read anything like it and I was just left in a big puddle of FEELS by the end of it. Two people, with flaws of their own, find love, peace, and acceptance in each other’s arms. Together, Vasily and Naomi will chase away each other’s loneliness and finally find that piece that has been missing in their hearts for so long.
LAST KISS is Book 3 in the HITMAN Series by Jessica Clare and Jen Frederick. It can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend diving into this entire series when you have the chance. This sexy, heart-racing, beautiful and suspenseful series will quickly become a favorite for sure.
