Dominant Alpha Men by Aleatha Romig + SIGNED Paperback ARC Giveaway

Please welcome the incredibly talented Aleatha Romig to Shayna Renee’s Spicy Reads!

Wow! As I sat down to write about why I love writing dominant alpha males into my stories, I decided to Google “Dominant-Alpha Males in books,” because let’s face it, we all Google everything! In one click I was taken to a list:  “All Time Dominant-Alpha Romance Heroes.” Imagine my surprise, shock, and giddy excitement when I found Consequences at number three (Fifty Shades of Grey was number one and Bared to You was number two) and Truth at number five (Captive in the Dark was number 4). Needless to say, I was thrilled. I never would have imagined my Tony being right up there with Christian, Gideon, and Caleb!all time dominant alpha males

It’s true, he has the qualities…

What’s not to love about a sexy, hot, dominant alpha male, one that of course is also incredibly wealthy! Ok, if we’re talking Tony, he may have a few negative qualities too, but that’s what makes these characters fun. They’re flawed, as well as gorgeous and masters in bed.

When I first created Anthony Rawlings, I never expected him to be a book boyfriend. Seriously, the man was downright mean in book one, Consequences. His flaws were too numerous. I couldn’t believe there were people who loved him. I couldn’t believe that as I wrote a monster, I fell in love with him.

I did. I admit it.

Would I fall for him in real life? No!

That’s what makes him and other alphas fun. They’re fiction and I’m safe. (even though Claire’s safety with Tony was debatable). When I first started writing him, I had no muse. I just created out of thin air. At that time I’d not read the other books atop the earlier mentioned list. Instead, I took qualities from characters I knew, from King Henry IIIV–I was watching The Tudors at the time–and from Victor Newman–from The Young and the Restless. That was only the beginning. I’m a pantser which means, I don’t outline my story. I have a beginning and an end, I allow my characters to come to life and fill in the middle. As I wrote, Tony came to life. His virility, masculinity, and confidence filled my mind and my pages. He dominated my thoughts and dreams. I wanted to make him happy. I wanted to be Claire.

Someone asked me why I write about rich people and not average people. Because I enjoy fantasy and fiction. There’s nothing like an unlimited bank account to allow those two things to come together and create a memorable story. Who really wants to read about the balding, policeman (I chose that profession, because there are HOT policeman) with a beer belly who takes Viagra and drives a beat-up POS?

I write what I love to read. I write what my imagination loves…I write fantasy. (Not the genre, the noun) At fifty years old, I still play pretend. Instead of dressing up as I did as a child, I write it out.

Being rich, if only in make-believe, gives me (my characters) unlimited resources. If only I could really afford the items my computer’s cookies think I can. I still haven’t purchased a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, but believe me, they’re on my wish list! Actually, Louboutins have been added to the list, too. I have to keep my characters well-dressed, and in different designers.

I also like to show that money doesn’t equate happiness. Many secrets can be hidden behind money. Those secrets often are the cause of many of the flaws.

Whether you’ve met Anthony “Tony” Rawlings or not, I’m excited that in less than a week, you’ll be able to meet Lennox “Nox” Demetri, my new, hot, sexy, decisive, dominant, alpha, hero. (Yes, I’m aware I used too many adjectives. Please bear with me.)

Was it difficult to write the same “type” of character and make them different? Yes and no. I wanted Nox to possess some of the same traits as Tony. However, it isn’t fair to say those traits belong solely to Tony. Christian, Gideon, Caleb, and Jesse (This Man was number six on that list) have similar qualities. And we LOVE them for that! We see their flaws, we grimace at some of their choices, and we melt at their words and actions.

That said, in a very short time, Nox took on a life of his own inside of my head. I believe I could literally write a scene (I don’t plan to do it) where Tony and Nox meet and their voices would be different. They are definitely two separate people in my head.

As you enter the world of Infidelity (No, the series isn’t about cheating, but about compromising your own beliefs for your heart’s desires) I hope you’ll all allow Nox to sweep you off your feet, even if it’s only for one week, with no past and no future. After all, a week in the arms of a sexy alpha male is better than no time at all!

Enjoy Betrayal!

One week. No future. No past. No more.
Alexandria Collins has one week to live carefree—no ghosts of her past or pressures of her future haunting her. Reinventing herself as “Charli,” she is knocked off her feet by a sexy, mysterious man who brings her pleasure like she never imagined. With her heart at stake, she forgets that decisions made in the dark of night reappear in the bright light of day.

“Some of my tastes are unique. They aren’t for everyone. I understand that.”

Lennox “Nox” Demetri is wealthy, confident, and decisive—he knows what he wants. From the first time he sees Charli at an exclusive resort, he knows he wants her. Although he is usually the one to make the rules, together they agree on one:

One week. No more.

When betrayal comes from those closest to Alexandria, she must decide how far she is willing to go to survive. Choices are not always easy, especially when they involve the heart, body, and soul. After all, Infidelity is a business, and some rules are meant to be broken.

“Is it really cheating if you’re doing it to yourself?”
