From the outside looking in, I had it all—a career I loved, a supportive family, the Nixon metabolism but not the Nixon ears, and a salary that supported my lavish taste in designer shoes, fine wine, and lacy lingerie … but I had no one to share it with.
Until the day I ran into him—my one night stand from college with the crooked smile, let’s-get-out-of-here eyes, and dirty, dirty mouth.
Cute and cocky then, today Levi Brooks is six feet four inches of hot bearded fantasy. A sexy single dad with broad shoulders, strong hands, and a fantastically big … heart. (I mean, it’s massive. And generous. And it pumps so hard … um. Sorry. Lost my place.)
Being a good father means everything to him, but he's keeping me at a distance because he thinks I deserve someone better — a man who can give me more time, more attention, more of himself. He doesn’t believe he could ever be enough.
But he's wrong.
It’s rare to find a book that transports you to another place with such beauty and ease…a book that brings forth so much emotion and so much feeling, you can’t even begin to explain how deeply the book moved you. I’m here to tell you that Melanie Harlow’s latest Happy Crazy Love novel, SOME SORT OF LOVE, was that book for me. I don’t know if it was because I saw so much of myself in Jillian, or the fact that Levi’s story tore my heart in two, there was just something about SOME SORT OF LOVE that pushed it to the top for me. It became my favorite of the series and that is hard to do because I love this series so goddamn HARD! This author’s writing is so spell-binding, so touching, and incredibly intoxicating that by the end of the read, you have NO IDEA what to do with yourself. You have an extreme urge to read it all over again, to NOT say goodbye to theses characters, to NOT escape from this magnificent world that Harlow created. It’s astonishing that a couple of hundred pages can affect me so much. It’s expected from this author, but no less amazing when it happens. Harlow puts me at ease with her stories, with her characters, with her brain. She always has readers swooning from head to toe with her heroes, and with Levi, well let’s just say…gorgeous man + single dad + sexy beard + dirty mouth = need I say more!
I LOVED and ADORED both Jillian and Levi to death! Through their internal conflicts and through the guilt and selfishness that consumed them, they found their way to each other. It was such a hard road, and there were plenty of potholes along the way, but in the end, it was worth it. The love that these two share might have been instant, but the struggle to get past their hangups and to finally LIVE was what made this story GREAT!
