In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever. Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly? Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

my thoughts

OMG! I’m a freaking wreck! This was so heartbreaking and so beautiful at the same time! At the end, I let out a huge breath, not even knowing I was keeping one in for so long. My thoughts are all over the place. My heart is in shambles, but it’s slowly mending back together. Breathtaking. Remarkable. One of my favorite reads of the year!

This book had everything going against it with me. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a brand new author to me, love triangles aren’t my favorite cup of tea, and this genre isn’t at the top of my list of favorites. That being said, I was completely caught off guard when I realized I loved it so goddamn much! Not only was this some of the best writing I’ve ever read, but the character development was superb, and the storyline was SO MUCH MORE than I thought it would be. I savored every word and every chapter. I felt like I was one with the characters. I felt their happiness, their sadness, their heartbreak, and their struggles. My heart beat feverishly with each turn of the page. I had no idea how this was going to end, but, MY GOD, the ending was like a warm blanket surrounding me. I was completely satisfied and, at the same time, completely overwhelmed with it all. Going through the story, you will have conflicting feelings for all of the key players. Who will she end up with? That is the big question isn’t it? Some of you will be worried, but just know that this author will guide you through it, and she’ll do it flawlessly.

If you are a fan of this author, you will have NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with this book. In fact, you will just fall more in love with this author’s work. If you are brand-spankin’ new, I’m here to tell you, have trust, have faith in this author. Don’t be frightened by the synopsis or the other reviews. Experience this masterpiece for yourself. Experience a story of true love that’s unique and extraordinary. Experience ONE TRUE LOVES.
