The first in an enchanting new male/male romantic duology from Lilah Pace, author of Asking for More and Begging for It ....

James, the handsome, cosmopolitan Prince of Wales, is used to being in the public eye. But he's keeping a king-sized secret...James, next in line for the throne, is gay.

He’s been able to hide his sexual orientation with the help of his best friend and beard, Lady Cassandra. Sometimes he feels like a coward for not coming out, but he daren’t risk losing the crown. If he did, the succession would fall on his deeply troubled younger sister, Princess Amelia. To protect her, James is willing to live a lie.

While on holiday, he meets Benjamin Dahan—a rugged international reporter with a globe-trotting, unattached life—who catches far more than James's eye. And when Ben is transferred to London, it seems fate may finally be smiling on James.

But what began as a torrid fling grows into something far more intimate and powerful. Soon James will have decide who he is, what he wants from life and love, and what he’s willing to sacrifice for the truth...

my thoughts

This was just an absolute beautiful declaration of love…a breathtaking and unique romance that left me with a full heart and a huge smile! I’m not really sure who this Lilah Pace is, but she is a freaking genius! First, bringing us the beautifully dark romance series, ASKING FOR IT, where I first fell in love with her impeccable writing. Then giving us the start of something brand new with HIS ROYAL SECRET, book one in a M/M duology. I always get excited and scared when this genre pops up on my iPad. It can be OH SO GOOD, or OH SO BAD, and luckily I’ve had good luck in this department. But in HIS ROYAL SECRET, I fell completely in love with James and Benjamin. Their love is forbidden on so many levels, but their passion runs deep and almost nothing can keep them away from each other, not even the King’s Crown.

A well-read reporter and the Prince of Wales…what could be more delicious and forbidden? Oh, and my friends…it gets pretty intense right off the bat, and it only gets better!

“Damn you, you know what I want.”

“Tell me.”

“I want you to fuck me.”

“Beg me.”

Are you fanning yourself yet? When Jame finds out what Ben really is, he feels betrayed. Not only because Ben is a reporter, but he feels betrayed because he let himself feel so much in their first meeting. When they are reunited and Ben has a chance to explain himself, James finds himself trusting the man. There are only a few people who knows the Prince’s secret, and trusting Ben means giving him the power to destroy him. An arrangement was made, and the blistering affair between James and Ben grows more and more out of control by the second. James finds himself taking more risks just to be in Ben’s presence. James knows that ‘coming out’ comes with dire consequences, but how much longer can he keep his feelings at bay? How much longer can one live a lie?

Lines are crossed in this star-crossed lovers romance. This book is the epitome of sexy. It’s beautiful and chock-full of emotions. Knowing this was a duology, I knew that this book would have an ending that wasn’t quite complete. I wouldn’t call it a cliffhanger by any means, but James and Ben still have a long way to go to get to their happily ever after. My anxiety is lessened by the fact that the conclusion to their story in HIS ROYAL FAVORITE, releases not long after this one does. I could kiss the author for that small gift.
