They call him The Mute for a reason.
Hard, cold and calculated, he rarely speaks.
When he does, it’s with disdain.
When he does, his words aren’t meant for me.
When he does, my stomach flips and my world tilts on its axis.
He is thirty-three.
I am eighteen.
He’s a single dad and my father’s business partner.
I’m just a kid to him and his enemy’s daughter.
He’s emotionally unavailable.
And I am…feeling. Feeling things I shouldn’t feel for him.
Trent Rexroth is going to break my heart. The writing isn’t just on the wall, it’s inked on my soul.
And yet, I can’t stay away.
A scandal is the last thing my family needs. But a scandal is what we’re going to give them.
And oh, what beautiful chaos it will be.

If you read the early reviews for this book, it’s an easy decision to get yourself a copy! After absolutely INHALING this title, I can see why some reviewers are calling SCANDALOUS, the ‘best book of the year!’ This is my very first read from author L.J. Shen and I can safely say that she has definitely made a NEW FAN in me! Not even counting the impeccable writing skills of this author, the characters, the storyline, the flow, the character dynamic, everything was just spectacular! It was so well developed and insanely addicting! I LOVE finding new-to-me authors and immediately falling hard for their writing. THIS is why I do what I do every single day.

Love is cruel.

Love is not a feeling, it is a weapon.

Love destroys.

Love destroys.

Love destroys.

COMPLEX. TORTUOUS. EMOTIONAL. Nothing about reading this book was easy. It will make you think and it will emotionally drain you, but trust me when I say, it happens in the most decadent way. I can totally see L.J. Shen in the background, rubbing her hands together, mocking us with an evil laugh. She knew what she was doing and she plays her readers VERY WELL! I love how she knows her audience and she gives them EXACTLY what they expect, but then she adds a twist here and a turn there, and suddenly nothing is what is expected, and you FALL IN LOVE with her writing ALL OVER AGAIN.

SCANDALOUS is more than two characters falling in love. It’s more than the forbidden. It’s more than a tumultuous journey of love and romance. It’s a freaking EXPERIENCE…one that I would gladly EXPERIENCE over and over again. If you are looking for a cookie cutter romance, this is NOT the book for you. If you are looking for a journey of two broken souls coming together to heal, then YES! this is the book for you. If you like your romances on the forbidden side with a hefty age gap, then Edie and Trent’s story is the JOURNEY FOR YOU!

SCANDALOUS is book #3 in L.J. Shen’s Sinners of Saint Series, but it can be read as a standalone, but trust this…after devouring this book, I WILL be going back to the beginning because I feel like it’s incredibly essential to me to dive immediately back into this sexy SEXY world!

About L.J. Shen

L.J. Shen is an International #1 best-selling author of Contemporary Romance and New Adult novels. She lives in Northern California with her husband, young son and chubby cat.

Before she’d settled down, L.J. (who thinks referring to herself in the third person is really silly, by the way) traveled the world, and collected friends from all across the globe. Friends who’d be happy to report that she is a rubbish companion, always forgets peoples’ birthdays and never sends Christmas cards.

She enjoys the simple things in life, like spending time with her family and friends, reading, HBO, Netflix and internet-stalking Stephen James. She reads between three to five books a week and firmly believes Crocs shoes and mullets should be outlawed.
